Senator Huffines Files Economic Freedom Bill
Senate Bill 1673 reinforces Texas' free market, individual liberty laws
Austin- Texas State Senator Don Huffines (R-Dallas) has filed legislation that will prohibit liberal political subdivisions from contradicting or undermining state law, or adopting regulations that are more stringent than or inconsistent with state law. Senate Bill 1673 provides recourse by requiring that a court shall award court costs to the challenger if a political subdivision's ordinance is ruled to contradict or undermine state law.
"For too long, liberal political subdivisions have restricted our economic freedom with illegal rules and regulations," said Senator Huffines. "We must defend the rule of law before it is too late and our state starts to look like California. Texas has been a model of job creation and innovation, but illegal rules and regulations threaten the economic prosperity of our state. This bill will defend Texas job creators from illegal rules and regulations, and keep Texas the envy of the nation."
