Senator Huffines Files Amendment to Institute Term Limits
Files amendment to place term limits on Governor, Lt. Governor’s offices.
Austin- State Senator Don Huffines (R-Dallas) filed an amendment to Senate Joint Resolution 66, which would have placed term limits on the Governor and Lt. Governor’s office. This would have made it so the Governor and Lt. Governor could only serve in office for two consecutive terms.
“As a commitment to the constituents of Senate District 16, I filed an amendment to SJR 66, which would have placed term limits on the Governor and Lt. Governor's offices,” said Senator Huffines. “As a businessman, I know the importance of new ideas and new leadership within the state. Texas must institute term limits so we can return to citizen leaders and move away from career politicians. My amendment was ruled non germane, but I will keep fighting for transparency and accountability in all forms of government.”
