Senator Huffines' Statement On Dallas County's Dangerous Sanctuary Resolution
Dallas Senator demands that county officials respect and uphold the rule of law
AUSTIN – Following the passage of a symbolic but reprehensible Dallas County Commissioners Court resolution affirming the county's intent to welcome illegal immigrants and not collaborate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the following statement is attributable to Senator Don Huffines (R-Dallas):
"Today's resolution by Dallas County is dangerous, irresponsible, and reprehensible. Dallas County should focus on keeping Texans safe from criminal aliens instead of playing politics and taking jabs at the laws that they swore an oath to uphold. The resolution is irrational, and it is an affront to millions of law-abiding legal immigrants.
“Senate Bill 4 upholds the rule of law and keeps Texans safe from criminal aliens. The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and the Texas Senate are doing our job for Texans while Dallas County is risking lives locally and across our state.
“I call on Dallas County to immediately rescind their resolution and to fully cooperate with federal immigration officials in compliance with Senate Bill 4."
